Joseph B. Callahan, Managing Director As Managing Director and partner of Public Properties LLC since 2002, Joe Callahan focuses on procurement transactions and build-to-suit opportunities on behalf of users and owners/developers. Joe has been active in the commercial real estate industry since beginning his career in 1994; his experiences across multiple U.S. markets provide great depths of information for clients. Mr. Callahan’s extensive experience in government leasing and tenant representation for office, medical, retail and warehouse space across the United States is the base of his career. He has completed more than 2.5 million square feet of transactions. Mr. Callahan manages and implements multiple transactions for users of space including building sales, lease acquisitions and dispositions, early renewals, lease buyouts, consolidations and lease expansions. He has provided transaction services for numerous federal government leasing assignments. Additionally, he has represented multiple property owners in their federal government transactions throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area and select U.S. markets. Prior to joining Public Properties LLC, Mr. Callahan served as Vice President of Equis Corporation’s Washington, DC office, from 1996 to 2002. Focusing on tenant representation and corporate services for many private sector companies, he has represented numerous household names like: Daimler-Chrysler, United Healthcare, Xerox, Verizon, WorldCom, SBC Communications, Johnson & Johnson, Quest Diagnostics and Watson Wyatt Worldwide. Upon entering his commercial real estate career path in 1994, Mr. Callahan worked in the Investment Sales Group at Barnes, Morris, Pardoe & Foster (now known as CB Richard Ellis). He participated in the acquisition and disposition of properties, financial analysis and market research for multi-family, office, and retail properties throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Mr. Callahan received a Bachelor of Science (1994) from The School of Business at Georgetown University. Joe lives in the District of Columbia with his wife and three sons.
